“Knowing the world ends

when I exhale my last breath

I plant more bamboo.”

Bob Markman

Hello Friends.

My name is Kaveen Hutchison. I was a colleague and friend of Bob Markman. Actually, I met Bob while in graduate school and had the good fortune to have him be my mentor for many years, a role which evolved into a friendship I am tremendously grateful for. I imagine that most of you have similar feelings, for regardless of the nature of the relationship, Bob had a unique way of making everyone he encountered feel important and special.

I am writing to offer my counseling services to any of you who would like help dealing with Bob’s sudden death or with issues you were working on when he passed. There are a few different scenarios by which we could meet to continue your counseling should you desire to do so. My office is in Asheville where I normally meet with clients, so if you felt to drive there for sessions this is one possibility. Another option is that if enough people are interested I would travel to Morganton for sessions. Anna, Bob’s wife, has been gracious enough to offer to let me use Bob’s house to see people so as to make it convenient for anyone who wished to continue their counseling there.

One practical note I should mention is that I do not file insurance claims for people I see in therapy. Most of the individuals and couples I meet with pay out of pocket for counseling with me. I can provide a receipt for those of you who want to file a claim with your insurance company on your own and I can tell you that from my experience only a percentage of insurance companies and policies will pay for my services.

My usual fee is $70 for an hour session but given the circumstances, I am willing to adjust that fee for any of you who want to meet but are financially not able to pay that full amount.

Please let me know if you feel it would be helpful in your grieving process or supportive with other counseling issues for us to meet. You can contact me either by email at kavenski@charter.net or by phone at (828) 273-1438.

In Bob’s leaving is the reminder to be grateful for our extraordinary good fortune in knowing this remarkable human being and the challenge to live the life lessons we learned while with him.
