In 1979 after reading a book by an amazing man Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh I decided to go to India to meet with Him that was my birthday gift to myself. I had no idea..how I would make it to Poona but somehow I trusted...there I was standing in the New York airport surrounded by crowds of people...wearing flat shoes for this first time in my adult life {birkenstocks} & decked out in an orange shirt.I just assumed all these folks where going to meet my man. I felt a tap on my shoulder and this very soft delicate woman asked me where I was going, I must have stood out like a beacon..she left & came back in a few moments & invited me to sit with her family. Thus my first meeting with Avi , Bhasa, & Binu & Chandrika. While on the plane Bhasa came up & said my Avi feels that you stick with us once we get off the plane....Eureka!!!! the site was unforgetable they enveloped me with protection & whisked me off to the taxi. Avi's care & awareness I will be forever grateful...getting me safely to Poona, insisting I stay with them at "The Ritz"...Haaaaaaa how I smile when I remember, his peanut butter sandwiches, the walks to the mango pulp stand, teaching me all about diet & how not to get sick, bats flying thro the room at nite his reassurance that they would not harm us..most of all I laugh when I remember the mice having babies in his boots,...our first ride to the Ashram...rickshaws, how not to get cheated, all his loving guidance I will be forever grateful to him. I was touched at his relationship with little Binu {my Father died when I was 1} so I always noticed these things, his loving smile , patience , support. Calm, steady...he was caring to everyone he met....I have never forgotten his kindness & those times, I have thought about him many times over the years..I am forever grateful for his generous big heart.
"I have carved you in my heart forever" Beloved Avi, you will be in my meditations....Peace & Love
